Kayla Silvia
Kayla is a Textile Conservator currently residing in Washington, D.C., USA.
Kayla earned a B.A. in Anthropology and B.S. with a concentration in Art History, with minors in Chemistry and Apparel and Textiles, from The State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta in 2014. Kayla received her MPhil in Textile Conservation at the Centre of Textile Conservation from the University of Glasgow in Scotland in 2019. She was awarded the Karen Finch Prize for excellent progress over the two year course. She has over 8 years experience interning and working as a conservator at several museums and institutions, including the National Museum of American History (NMAH), Nishio Conservation Studio, the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM), the Knole Conservation Studio, Museum Textile Services (MTS), and Bynon Art Services. Kayla is currently a Professional Associate of the American Institute of Conservation (AIC).
In her free time, Kayla enjoys biking, hiking, traveling, and drinking a pot of tea with a good book.
